THE CNMI Department of Labor identified an average of 222 serious hazards at worksites in fiscal years 2016 to 2020, Labor Secretary Vicky I. Benavente told lawmakers.
During a meeting with the House Committee on Federal and Foreign Affairs on Thursday last week, Benavente presented data indicating the number of serious hazards identified at worksites each fiscal year beginning FY 2016.
She said CNMI DOL provides consultation services to businesses as part of the federally funded Occupational Safety and Health Administration on-site consultation program.
As for the 222 serious hazards that were identified in FYs 2016 to 2020, Benavente said they were corrected in a timely manner.
She said CNMI OSHA made 65 on-site visits in FY 2016; 76 in FY 2017; 80 in FY 2019; and 46 in FY 2020.
According to Benavente, CNMI OSHA identified 224 hazards in FY 2016; 395 in FY 2017; 191 in FY 2018; 306 in FY 2019; and 195 in FY 2020.
