(NMTI) — The Northern Marianas Technical Institute Board of Trustees is looking forward to serving as valuable partners for local workforce development within the CNMI.
They have expressed their commitment to foster a strong partnership with CNMI education stakeholders and provide quality, skilled technical institute graduates that will contribute to our NMI workforce.
According to NMTI Chairman Mario Valentino, he believes the Board of Trustees has a lot of work to do, but they are committed to being open-minded and working with everyone in the community.
“With the Trustees on board, and establishing great working relationships with our fellow stakeholders, together we can accomplish our goals. We look forward to the engagement with our Advisory Council, building relationships with the Public School System, Commonwealth Coalition of Private Schools Association, Northern Marianas College, and the CNMI business community. There is much value that an efficient Technical Institute can bring to this community and together, we intend to ensure this happens,” said Chairman Valentino.
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres believes the Board of Trustees will take NMTI to the next level of fostering stronger workforce development programs to ensure success for students and their future employers in the business community.
“This renewed commitment of partnership with important educational and business stakeholders is important to the success of NMTI and the success of its graduates. Local workforce development is a top priority, and we are not going to get there alone. It requires a community approach, and we are confident that the Board of Trustees with their knowledge and technical expertise will move our Technical Institute forward in the right direction,” said Governor Torres.
Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios notes that the infusion of federal funding for NMTI will strengthen its goals through the construction of a state-of-the-art facility.
“With the funding award from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, a modern, state-of-the-art facility will be built to further develop our students for years to come, so they have the skillsets for a productive career to support their families and our community,” said Lt. Governor Palacios.
The Board of Trustees will have their organizational meeting on Friday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. in the governor’s conference room.
“There is a lot of passion within the Trustees, and we are strengthening our pledge to make the Technical Institute a community priority. With the leadership of Governor Torres and Lt. Governor Palacios, as well as the support from our community, I believe we can get it done,” said Chairman Valentino.
