Manacop, Zapanta top December roll-offs

Manacop tallied 856 pinfalls last Sunday, averaging 214 pins per game. Lower results from Monday’s games kept him at the top while Percy Omechelang and Alex Castro settled for second and third place, respectively.

Omechelang ruled game one with 268 pinfalls while Manacop earned 255.

It was a neck and neck battle from there, as the former came short of Manacop by five pins at game two. Manacop swept game three with 235 pinfalls and finished the final round with 160. Omechelang delivered 382 more pins to cap off with an 851 total and a 212.75 average. Castro fell behind at game four, knocking 122 pins for a 754 total.

He scored 220, 219, and 193 in the first three rounds.

In the women’s division, Zapanta also pulled her winning scores from Sunday with 662 pinfalls. She lagged behind in game one, hauling only 148 pins. Zapanta improved from there with game-high scores of 180 and 171. She survived the fourth round with 163 pinfalls for a 165.5 average.

Yho Villavicencio came closest to Zapanta at 656 pinfalls, beating her in game four with 191 pins. She struck 156 pins in the first round before dropping to 149 in the second. Her steady play kept her above Ron Cal, whose 649 total put her in third place. Cal bested both Zapanta and Villavicencio at the start with 186 pinfalls, but sharply dropped to 168 and 126 pins in the next couple games.

December’s top five male division players also included Raymond Zapanta (751 total, 187.75 average) and Jared Gutierrez (734 total, 183.5 average). In the ladies’ top five are August’s queen of the lanes Gloria Omechelang (615 total, 153.75 average) and Tess Sablan (606 total, 151.5 average).

Manacop will be celebrating the holiday season with his $70 cash prize. Omechelang received $30 and Castro won $20. Zapanta bagged $60 while Villavicencio and Cal earned $25 and $15, respectively.
