Senate wants pay raise for Rev&Tax director

Manglona, Ind.-Rota, said the division still has no director and the administration is also having a hard time looking for a new Department of Finance secretary.

By a 9 to 0 vote, the Senate passed S.B. 17-51 to increase the annual salary of the Rev & Tax director from $42,000 to $50,000.

The bill was introduced by Senate Vice President Jude U. Hofschneider, R-Tinian.

According to the bill, Rev & Tax is one of the busiest and most critical offices in the government, and the duties and responsibilities of its director are extensive and complicated.

The current salary of $42,000 is insufficient, the bill added.

Manglona said instead of spending too much time on the  plan to merge the Covenant Party with the Republican Party, the governor should appoint a new Finance secretary, a new Rev & Tax director and  the board members of the Commonwealth Health Corporation.
