He said taxi operators are not allowed to make partial payments for their insurance coverage.
Upon renewal of their registration, he said they have to fully pay their insurance policy.
“This is hurting our business especially now that the economy is not good,” he added.
Syed said the policy of insurance companies is also detrimental to taxi operators.
He said if a taxi operator gets involved in an accident his insurance policy will not be renewed by the insurance company.
Some taxi operators have to stop operating after their insurance policies were not renewed, he added.
He requested Commerce to help address the concerns of taxi operators.
