Commonwealth Arts Council event coordinator Parker Yobei said 30 children have joined the workshop so far.
“Some of the kids did not show up but we are expecting them today or tomorrow. Those who are still interested to join are free to come,” Yobei said.
The workshop is a regular event conducted by the Arts Council in collaboration with the Division of Youth Services Prevention Unit.
Yobei said children will get hands-on training from local artists like Luis Ogo on painting lessons, and Flowerpot Salas who will teach them lei making.
Yobei said the children can make their own leis for the graduation programs in June.
“The arts and handicrafts that the kids will be learning will come in handy and be useful later,” Yobei said.
The children will also learn how to paint on empty drums that will later be used as trash cans.
For sports, Yobei said the children will play baseball and soccer, and learn basic exercises like stretching.
Yobei said they have been conducting similar workshops in the past in Tanapag, Kagman and other areas on island.
“The workshop is open for all kids and we are trying to hold it in different places,” Yobei said.
Parents need to accompany the children to sign the forms.
