“For sure this is not going be the first and the last. As what our [vice district governor] Pastor Gagaring suggested we should do it every three months,” he told Variety.
During the medical mission, the Lions Club served close to 400 community members at the Civic Center basketball court in Susupe.
“It was very successful and it is very satisfying serving the community,” Madriaga said.
The turnout, he added, was more than expected since it was a Saturday event and they were only expecting 200 participants.
“Our District Governor Romeo Angel was happy with the turnout,” he said.
The fair offered vision screening and provided free reading glasses courtesy of Guam Marianas Lions Club.
Hearing screening was conducted by the Guam Asia Pacific Lions and Department of Public Health clinicians, while blood sugar and blood pressure testing was provided by Northern Marianas College and the University of Loyola at CNMI’s nursing programs.
NMC’s nursing volunteers weres headed by Hervin Jacinto while Jodee Gopeng led the volunteers from the University of Loyola.
The Department of Public Health, for its part, conducted newborn hearing tests.
The medical mission started at around 7:20 a.m. and ended at 11 a.m.
The Lions motorcade from the Civic Center to San Jose down to Middle Road all the way to Garapan was also successful, Madriaga said.

Madriaga at the same time congratulated the new members of Region 2, Lion Prexy Mario Mayuga and the new set of officers of Saipan Fil-Am Lions Club who were inducted during the dinner reception held at the Claret Restaurant at Fiesta Resort & Spa.
