Police officers Joshua Rekemesik, Randall Ngirengkoi, Lucky Orrukem, Lebilau Sebalt and Korhonen E. Kotaro have sworn yesterday. The swearing in was administered by BPS Director Norvert H. Yano at the office of the Ministry of Justice.
Yano said three of the police officers will be assigned at the U.S Embassy, while the two will be designated at the Patrol Division.
He said despite lack of funds, the BPS continues its recruitment to fill in the vacant positions left by retired police officers.
The BPS has now 159 police members, 14 of them are female officers.
The oath taking ceremony was graced by six division chiefs of the BPS, namely, Chief Ellender Ngirameketii of the Marine Law Enforcement, Chief Benhart Baulechong of the Bureau of Fire and Rescue, Chief Julio Ringangn of the Division of Corrections, Chief Detective Lt. Aloysuis Alonz of the Criminal Investigation and Drug Enforcement, Chief Peter Napoleon of the Patrol division and Acting Chief Detective Lt. Richard Ngiratrang of the Fish and Wildlife Division.
The event was also witnessed by the family and friends of the new police officers.
Yano said the five new police officers were recruits from the 18th Law Enforcement Academy.
