Carey tops Ride ‘Round the Ridge’

Rider Butch Sublemente came second to Garcia after clocking in at 1 hour 15 minutes and 27 seconds. Garcia started having troubles with his mud covered-cleats and asked Sublemente to help him out giving up the lead to Carey in the Kimikaze trail; Carey eventually left them behind in the second lap. Garcia and Sublemente was then tailed by Bob Ferrer submitting a record of 1 hour 22 minutes and 32 seconds to complete the top three finishers for the male championship division.

Heather Kennedy trailed Mieko Carey in the women’s division of the championship category crossing the finish line at 1 hour 40 minutes and 16 seconds followed by Kanae Quinn surviving an early crash and conquering the race at 1 hour 44 minutes and 7 seconds to complete the top three of the female division.

In the sport course for the male division, Garry Bandoja finished first clocking in at 40 minutes and 58 seconds tailed by Arnel Cruz who crossed the finish line at 43 minutes and 30 seconds and lat but not leat vame rider Ricky Melchor who clocked in at 48 minutes and 15 seconds.

In the sport course for the female division, Kimiko Hasegawa accomplished the grueling race at 50 minutes and 44 seconds followed closely by rider Jackie Van Dam who came in at 51 minutes and 52 seconds and last but not least came Maricel Mahilum coming in at 53 minutes and 36 seconds.

Special awards were given to Alexander Bateman, 6 years old, and Gideon Borja, 11 years old, for answering the call of the wild on race day. The F9 Cannondale mountain bike was won by Rommel Villaviza who swapped for the black version of the bike at the Saipan Pro bike shop.
