Pacific lawmakers to meet in Yap

Over 30 people are scheduled to take part in this conference. They will represent the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the State of Hawaii, the Republic of Palau, the Territory of Guam, the State of Chuuk, the State of Kosrae, the State of Pohnpei, and the State of Yap. The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa will not be able to attend this year’s conference due to other pressing matters within their jurisdictions.

Guam will be sending the largest delegation with nine members, next to Palau with five.

The FSM states of Pohnpei and Kosrae will be sending delegations with three members each while Chuuk, Hawaii and the Marshall Islands will send one representative each.

The delegation from Palau was the first to arrive in Yap  on Sunday, Nov. 28.

The other representatives of Palau will be arriving with the rest of the other delegations on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

Representatives from regional institutions and organizations who were invited to make presentations in the three-day conference will also be coming along to take part.

These include the Ayuda Foundation, the Pacific Islands Development Bank, Future Earth Systems, Micronesia Conservation Trust and the Pacific Islands Health Association.

The visiting delegations will be departing Yap on Sunday, Dec. 5.
