Camacho, Tamayo lead Atalig above Cell Pro

Bon Tamayo led the Ataligs in the first quarter, landing a three-pointer and two free throws. Combined with Zack Babauta, the team left Cell Pro’s Michael Palacios and Rocyl Ritual behind.

The Cell Pros tried to stay even, with Dindo Pablo landing a three-pointer. That wasn’t enough however, as the Ataligs kept their lead in the second quarter.

Babauta was soon joined by Budz Camacho and Melvin Capalad, with the three slipping baskets past Hernandez and Ritual.

Scoring nine points in the first half, Tamayo focused on the defense with Babauta. The highly flexible Ataligs stopped Ritual in the second half, leaving him with 12 points for the night. Camacho found his chance to make more shots, earning 11 points.

Though losing the ball a few times in the final quarter, Tamayo still had the power to land jumpers. When not helping in the rebound, Tom Santos would also score for the Ataligs. His speed paired with Buboy Sablan’s sharp shooting was enough to keep the team on top.

Buraot 76, Pilot 68

Team Buraot had their share of victory last Friday after beating the Saimar Pilots 76-68.

Behind by 11 points in the first half, the Buraots hurriedly turned the tables thanks to Dave Sablan. He, Angelo Fernando, and Gil Gapor were unstoppable in the offense, making shots past Saimar Pilot’s White Capalad and Leo Itaas.

Sablan followed up with two layups in the third quarter before giving the ball to Fernando. A tighter defense from the Pilots resulted in fouls, giving Fernando two free throws.

The Pilots depended on Sonny Lerio, Capalad, and Itaas for points, but were overrun by Sablan again. Blocked by Gapor, Capalad stormed for the basket and scored two points. Itaas wasn’t so lucky when he was fouled in a layup attempt.

While Buraot’s Emerson Bautista landed his last basket, Sablan continued his onslaught of layups. Missing the basket, he was helped by Gapor in the rebound.

The Pilots’ hopes of winning faded away as Nick Swaim and Ryan Odicta added four more points to team Buraot.

Making no points in the third quarter, Sonny Lerio fought back with two three-pointers. This, combined with another jumper, weren’t enough to take the lead.

With three free throws, Sablan tallied his score to 26 in the last seconds of the game.
