Delta Air Lines hosts golf tournament

Through these tournaments, Delta Air Lines, hole sponsors, and players generate funds to benefit children’s education in the CNMI and Guam.

Given the support of sponsors and players from last year, proceeds from the Saipan tournament were used to help fund Rotary’s Parade of Books and provide air transportation, in partnership with Freedom Air, for 16 CNMI students and their chaperones to participate in Guam’s Island Wide Science Fair.

Proceeds from Guam were used to help fund the Bookmobile and provide backpacks and school supplies through Isla Inc. to 1,300 children on Guam.

“This year we hope to expand our contributions to each of these worthwhile efforts and add support to Rotary’s annual dictionary project that provides dictionaries to all grade three children in Guam,” said Richard Parsons, Delta’s manager in Guam and Saipan. “Working to improve our island communities is important to my team at Delta and together we feel that enhancing children’s education is a true hole-in-one” he added.

For 2010, both tournaments will feature hole-in-one prizes of One Million SkyMiles, courtesy of the Bank of Guam, and $10,000 cash from IT&E.

Further, Saipan’s tournament will offer a hole-in-one car prize, courtesy of Microl Corp., and a pair of tickets on Delta Air Lines to the U.S. mainland. Guam’s tournament, meanwhile, will offer hole-in-one car prizes from AK Toyota and Nissan Guam, plus $7,600 in gas and $2,400 cash courtesy of SPPC.

Both tournaments will also feature attractive gas prizes for tournament winners, courtesy of IP&E.
