Man assaults woman with PVC pipe

Victim Priscilla Corpuz Tadeo suffered contusions to her forehead and right arm.

She was released after receiving treatment at the Commonwealth Health Center.

Yesterday, Roberto M. De Guzman was arrested by police in Susupe.

In his affidavit, Detective Buddy Igitol said DPS dispatched Officer Rudolpho Sablan to a disturbing the peace incident at the J&G Water  barracks, near the Muslim mosque in Garapan on Oct. 9, 2010, at about 9:11 p.m.

The victim said she was inside her room when she heard De Guzman shouting outside her house, breaking glass cups, and calling out Tadeo’s husband whom De Guzman wanted to fight, Igitol said.

The wife met De Guzman who walked out of the barracks and returned with a white PVC pipe, measuring about three feet long.

“[De Guzman] immediately began swinging at [the victim’s] head. As a result of the attack, Tadeo sustained injuries to her right arm and forehead. After striking Tadeo with the pipe, De Guzman left the area,” Igitol said.

Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo yesterday retained the $5,250 cash bail for De Guzman who is being held on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace.

De Guzman was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing.

Assistant Attorney General Shelli Neal represented the government while Assistant Public Defender Richard Miller was appointed as De Guzman’s counsel.
