“Many people went to the fair and they were happy because they were able to avail of different health services for free, and got information about health issues and concerns,” Glimpses of Saipan and Beach Road Magazine’s Susan Marchitti told the Variety yesterday.
“We are glad that the first fair was successful, and if the community wants another one like it, we can make it an annual event,” she added.
Marchitti said they distributed several giveaways to people who flocked to the booths to avail of various services offered by different organizations and agencies.
“I’m very glad to see many people especially the kids participating in the cycling booth, and more people getting free health screenings — services that they would have to pay for if they go to a private clinic,” she added.
Tina Sablan of the Commonwealth Cancer Coalition said giveaways were given to individuals who were able to answer trivia questions on smoking.
She also offered advice and more information about the dangers of smoking to individuals.
Other organizations that set up informational booths included the Coastal Marine Resources Office, the Pacific Marine Resource Institute, the Commonwealth Cancer Association, PHI Pharmacy, the Northern Marianas Protection & Advocacy Systems Inc., Marianas Health Services, the Department of Public Health, Brabu Pharmacy, Del Benson Photography, the Commonwealth Diabetes Coalition, the Ayuda Network, Foremost, Subway and Gold’s Gym.
