Students, teachers and staff gathered at the school stage for the dramatic entrance of GES teacher of the year Clarissa M. Dela Cruz.
Dela Cruz, a first grade teacher, was carried on throne-like couch to receive her award accompanied by her family members.
In an interview, Dela Cruz said she was not expecting to get the highest award because everybody at GES worked hard.
“I am very excited and very humbled because it’s coming from the whole school. It means a lot to me,” she said.
David Attao, Parent-Teacher Association president, handed Dela Cruz a cash award of $75 and a $25 gift certificate from National Office Supply.
The runners-up for the award, fourth grade teacher Melissa Mendez and second grade teacher Jan Springer, also received cash and gift certificates from the PTA.
The school’s teacher aide of the year Rose Hosono and support staff of the year Floro Reyes also received prizes.
During the event, Janey Aguilar, a sixth grade student, read her award-winning piece for the Education Day essay writing contest.
Her essay won second prize in the PSS-wide competition.
School principal Yvonne R. Pangelinan lauded all the students, teachers, staff and parents for the successful celebration.
“Judging from today’s creative performance we have taken everything that matters to our school and put them together to create a most wonderful and heartfelt celebration,” she said.
