As this year’s top male finisher with 39 minutes and 22 seconds, Bae Ji bested 2009 winner Jack Kabiriel’s 40:16 record. Berger improved her time to 42 minutes and 55 seconds compared to her previous 43:56 (2009) and 44:09 (2008) records.
Ruling the 12-and-under male and female categories were John Auther and Jocelyn Flores, who finished at 47:55 and 1:26:00, respectively. Marianas High School students Michael Mancao and Reylynn Jones Sapong came next as winners for the 13-17 year-old division with times of 43:12 and 1:17:00.
Adam Whitty took the Open Male title at 45 minutes and one second, while Amber Sarkkinen won in the Open Female category with a faster time of 43:37.
Butch Sublemente conquered the course in 40 minutes and 49 seconds, making him the 30-39 year-old male division’s winner. Rebechah Iseman followed in the female’s category with 57:07.
Other winners included Joe Auther (45.52), Lynn Tenorio (1:04:30), Cesar Danao (40:30), and Marcia Schultz (1:11:00).
The 4.2-mile race started from Lower Base at 6 a.m. and continued through Mt. Tapochau’s rocky terrain. A raffle followed the event, giving other participants the chance to earn prizes.
