AGO asks court to revoke probation of man in disturbing the peace case

In his notice of intent to revoke probation, Assistant Attorney General Benjamin K. Petersburg said James I. Somorang, 40, failed to pay his $100 probation fee.

Somorang’s probation ended on Sept. 30, 2010.

Somorang also failed to write an apology letter as directed by the court.

Somorang was discharged from the Community Guidance Center on May 4, 2010 for non-compliance with complete counseling.

On Aug. 12, 2009, the AGO said Somorang shouted profanities at his victim while setting fire to his belongings in her yard.

Somorang pleaded  guilty to the offense of disturbing the peace and was sentenced to imprisonment of 90 days, all suspended.

The court credited 51 days he already served at the Department of Corrections facility.

He was placed on one year probation after his release from prison.
