Asked if Detective Jesse Dubrall was being investigated in connection with the mauling of a former garment worker on Oct. 18, DPS spokesman Sgt. Thomas A. Blas Jr. declined to comment.
“The case is still under investigation,” Blas said.
Public Auditor Michael Pai told the Variety that Dubrall started working at OPA on Monday.
Variety was told by a source that Dubrall was the policeman accused of hitting Jing Dong Wang with a handgun and repeatedly kicking the victim, who turned out to be not the “ice” suspect that DPS wanted to arrest.
On Oct. 18, the Superior Court issued a search and arrest warrant against Junding Qiu, who was wanted by the police for “ice” trafficking, at an apartment complex near the LPG gas company in As Lito.
Jing Dong Wang resides at an As Lito apartment.
In his affidavit of probable cause, Detective Roque C. Camacho said Dubrall and another detective were at the back of the target apartment complex, monitoring Qiu’s illegal activities.
After her husband was beaten up, Wang’s wife said a police officer showed her a picture of Junding Qiu, and asked if she knew the suspect.
She said she didn’t know Qui.
DPS has yet to release the respondent’s name in connection with the complaint of assault and battery, and assault with a dangerous weapon filed by Wang.
DPS Commissioner Santiago F. Tudela said the Criminal Investigation Bureau is now investigating the incident.
