Detective Lieutenant Aloysius Alonz said the cause of fire is not yet known. They are still waiting for the report from Palau Public Utilities Corporation (PPUC) and from the investigators to determine the cause of fire.
Alonz said PPUC’s report is necessary to determine the possible cause of faulty electrical wiring. However, the officer said there are many angles to be considered. They are not ruling out anything that may help for the immediate result of the investigation.
On Wednesday, the multi-million IPRC bungalows were burned to ground by a huge fire. The fire broke out on the first floor of one of the three-story buildings located at the northeastern portion of the resort.
The buildings were made of woods and combustible materials, giving fire fighters a hard time putting out the fire. There were only two fire trucks used on hand to extinguish the fire that ate up the entire establishment.
The fire started at 9 a.m. By 12:00 noon the entire buildings turned into ashes.
The IPRC is owned by former State Minister Temmy Shmull and two other Taiwanese partners Chin-Heng Wang and Ms. Yunn-Chyi Lee.
The resort project according to some informants was supposed to open this year.
This was the biggest fire incident that happened on Palau.
