The new officers are Teresita Sorroza, chairwoman; Jose M. Torres, vice chairman; Nancy Nannay, secretary; and Rosario Ibanez, treasurer.
The council members are Earl Nannay and Meryalen Condrad who will also chair council subcommittees; Christiana Michael, chairwoman of the birthday and donation panel; and Francisco Reyes, the former chairman of the council.
Walter Manglona, Aging Office program coordinator, said there’s a need to amend the by-laws to give more protection to the council’s funds.
He said the council is also considering income-generating programs like producing a movie.
Last year, Manglona successfully produced the movie “The Enchantress” which featured senior citizens.
The council also plans to hold the “Manamko’ King and Queen” contest which was cancelled last year due to lack of funds.
Office on Aging Director Rose DLG Mondala said the new officers are a “good bunch of people.”
