“I also have a positive attitude toward the casino operation,” said Mendiola, a former member of the Rota Casino and Gaming Commission.
The Rota Treasure Island Casino will open this Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Rota Hotel.
Now that the casino will open, Mendiola said it is necessary to increase the flights to Rota.
He said his office is collaborating with other agencies to request for more chartered flights.
Rota Hotel general manager Travis Henley told Variety they are expecting tourists arriving for the casino opening.
There hotel is now fully booked, he added.
On Aug. 3 and 4, Masahito Watanabe, president of Rota Treasure Island Casino, hosted a “test run” with the island community.
Yesterday, Rota residents continued the preparations for their annual San Francisco de Borja fiesta.
Since Oct. 1, island residents have been holding a novena every 5:30 a.m. and this will culminate in a fiesta Mass on Sunday at 10 a.m.
The annual event is famous for its sumptuous fiesta dinner spread that can feed everyone on island.
