Balakrishna is SGA September Ace

Marianas Variety was told yesterday in an email interview with Frances Mary Sablan that Edward Manibusan caught the most birdies; three birdies after warming up in the back nine in holes 13, 14 and 16, outdriving everyone at hole 11, golfed the closest to the pin in hole 8, netting a low 68 and placing 3rd overall.

Then came Steve Balakrishna who not only birdied holes 14 and 15, but also collected the greenies for holes 12 and 15, netting an even better score of 67 and placing 2nd.

Vince Rosario and Joe Demapan both started the birdies early on when they both birdied hole 1.  Vince finished with the lowest net of the day – 64 placing 1st, while Joe Demapan tied Manibusan’s low net score of 68, but placed 4th after getting a boggy on hole 17.

Ray San Nicolas and Martin Sablan both birdied hole 5, followed by John Babauta who birdied hole 12 and outdrove everyone else at hole 3.  San Nicolas netted 71, Martin 74 and Babauta 77.

Steve Balakrishna was dubbed the SGA Ace for September because 1st place finisher Vince Rosario already got the January 2010 Ace.

Balakrishna now joins the 2010 SGA Aces: Vince Rosario (January), Edward Sablan (February), Mariano Fajardo (March), Larry Deleon Guerrero (April), Steve Jang (May), Jung Teack (June), Jose Sablan (July), and Martin Sablan (August).

The Aces will duke it out at the end of the year at the 2010 Ace of Aces Tournament. Rick Kautz also birdied two holes 6 and 7 tallying a total score of 81.

SGA netted a minimum of 64 and maximum 86 with Jung Taeck netting a 70, SGA Treasurer Joe Sablan 71, Ed Sablan 72, Mayor Ray Dela Cruz 75, Joe Deleon Guerrero 75, SGA Secretary Frances Sablan 78, SGA President Ben Aldan 78, Art Deleon Guerrero 80 (took closest to the pin at hole 6), Das Krishnan 83, and Frank Rosario 86.

The next Ace Tournament will kick off in October.
