New Prison Fellowship officers sworn in

Pastor Bob Dames of the Prison Fellowship International of Guam administered the oath of office on Wednesday at the multi-purpose Center in Susupe.

The new officers are Rose White, president; Rengesuul Yobech, vice president; Alicia Taman, secretary; Luis Villagomez, treasurer;  members Hermogenes Beltran Jr., Raffy Armia, and Manuelito Rey.

The group also elected Femie Rey as its executive director.

During the installation of officers, the Association of Filipino Pastors on Saipan talked about the importance of prayers and the participation of church members in outreach and support projects that focus on the needs of the prisoners, prison officials, ex-prisoners, their families and crime victims.

Pastor Eric Abragan talked about the “Prayer on Reconciliation” while Pastor Raffy Armia discussed “Prayer for Ex-prisoners.

Pastor Manuelito Rey shared his thoughts about “Prayer for Transformation.”

This year’s theme was “Is there room at your table?” as different programs and topics were discussed from Oct. 10 to 17.

On the first day of the event, Sunday last week, the participants discussed how prisoners can be reconciled with their victims, families and community.

On Monday, they emphasized  “Victim Care Day” and prayed for the victims and the support and encouragement of the community.

On Tuesday, the participants prayed for justice and peace in the community and for legislators to enact laws that will help restore offenders to their communities.

On Wednesday, they prayed for recently released prisoners to be reunited with their families, and for the ex-prisoners to have the strength to resist temptation as they return to freedom.

The group on Thursday prayed for cooperation and respect between prison officials and inmates.

On Friday, which was “Family Support Day,” they focused their prayers on the families of prisoners and the support from the community.

Saturday was “Prisoners Visitation Day” while yesterday, the group celebrated  “Transformation Sunday” with prayers for the more than 100 prison fellowship national ministries around the world.
