The SIS Geckos spiked their way to easy points in the beginning of the first set, leaving the Sharks scrambling for the ball. The Sharks put up a good fight, catching up to the Geckos with steady forearm passes. The Geckos pushed for a final lead, winning the first set by 25-20.
Off-court serves from the Sharks sent the Geckos climbing ahead in the second set. The Sharks earned a couple more points from Christian Reyes, whose powerful blocks slowed the Geckos’ progress. The Geckos finished the day with 25-13 after a failed serve from the Sharks.
Despite, their loss, the Sharks enjoyed their victory against the Geckos during their junior varsity volleyball game.
After an incoming attack from the Geckos, the Sharks gained their winning point after a swift spike from Soilo Valeros. The Sharks finished the third set with 15-8.
The Geckos took their first win during the first set, dominating the Sharks by 10-25. With new players and a different game plan, the Sharks caught the Geckos off guard with several overhand serves. The Sharks brought the game into a tie-breaking third set after winning by 25-17.
SIS team B’s junior varsity players also lost against Seventh Adventist during their volleyball game last Wednesday.
SDA crushed the Geckos after beating them by 25-18 in the second set and 25-16 in the first set.
The Coalition of Private Schools Sports Association will enter its mid-season in volleyball tomorrow, with varsity and junior varsity games taking place between: Marianas Baptist Academy and Mt. Carmel School; Grace Christian Academy and SIS Team A; CCA and SDA; CCA and SIS Team B; and Saipan Community School and SIS Team B.
