Garapan school to hold ‘Welcome Back’ fair

The fair, organized by the school administration, faculty and staff, will have booths laid out on the field so parents and students can meet  teachers on a one to one basis.

“We are doing this to enhance our parents’ participation in their children’s education. At GES, we are committed to ensuring we have that collaboration and that both parents and school work hand in hand to delivering the best educational results for our children,” said school principal Yvonne R. Pangelinan.

Classroom teachers, counselors, teacher aides as well as maintenance and administration personnel will be present and ready to welcome back the students as well as meet and greet parents.

They will also answer any questions parents may have.

Additionally, AmeriCorps will be on site to assist families with children. They will provide child care services during the parent orientation.

In the orientation, GES plans to cover issues pertaining to required forms for each attending child, policies and procedures, class schedule, school supply list and other pertinent information to better prepare parents and students for opening of school on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

The Department of Public Health’s Public Health & Hospital Emergency Preparedness Program’s Flu Watch team will also be part of the fair where the Kung Flu mascot is expected to make an appearance.

The Flu Watch team will also be handing out certificates of appreciation to GES students, parents and staff who participated in this year’s Flu Watch 4th of July parade, said Roxanne Diaz, the Flu Watch team captain.

Along with Kung Flu, the Matua Riders Group will also be making a special appearance and will be there to reinforce the Flu Watch messages and to protect the crowd by taking Kung Flu away.

The Matua Riders Group is a motorcycle club collaborating with the Flu Watch team by assuming the role of bounty hunters out to take Kung Flu down.

Parents of GES students are encouraged to attend the fair as this will give them the opportunity to know more about their children’s education for the upcoming school year.
