The first hearing was dedicated to the Department of Interior and American Samoa Congressman Eni F.H. Faleomavaega is a member of the Subcommittee, according to the Compact Review Office here.
Palau government has sent its Palau team to attend the hearing.
Although the team is not scheduled to testify, attendance is an opportunity to hear about the process for the Compact aid.
The hearing was supposed to be conducted in July but the Compact financial package was not finalized at that time.
Frankie Reed Deputy Assistant of the U.S. Secretary of State is scheduled to testify during the first hearing.
Palau has accepted a $250 million financial package in January for the next 15 years; the signing was conducted this month after the two parties ironed out the kinks.
U.S. is expected to go into a continuing resolution and by February the budget which include the Compact funds is expected to be approved.
