MOH receives toiletries, bananas for patients

On Tuesday this week, Shimbros and Sobekang Committee, an organization of Continental Airline employees in Palau, handed over a few cases of adult pampers and tissue and six boxes of wet wipes, respectively, to the staff of Belau National Hospital.

On October 14, last week, Rukebai Kikuo donated four boxes or 90 lbs. of bananas.

Both Simbros and Sobekang are regular donors to the hospital. Sobekang donated magazines for the patients; and Shimbros also gave diapers before.

With the limited budget of the hospital, every single donation that the community gives counts, Sween R. Yamada, Belau National Hospital Administrator, said in an earlier interview.

Oftentimes, the hospital gets donations from the community and different private organizations.Donations vary from cash and checks to fruits and vegetables, to sleeper chairs, diapers, pillows and linens.

“We want to thank everyone that donates, it really helps the hospital,” Yamada said. “Their donations make a difference in the amount of money that we have to spend.”
