Docomos beat Grocers, 98-82
The Docomo Pacifics had their share of victory after squashing the Pacific Grocers 98-82 in the QQ league’s first game last Monday.
Outnumbering the Grocers, the Docomos frequently changed strategies with each set of players.
Shooting for 13 points in the first quarter, Pacific Grocer’s Leo Apelo and Ernie Moises left the Docomos two points behind.
The game turned rapidly as Jun Estolas and Elmer Esdrelon stepped on the court. Estolas opened up with a three-pointer, while Esdrelon assisted with a jumper.
The Grocers briefly lost momentum but picked up some speed in the third quarter. Several defensive fouls gave them extra points from free throws. Missing his first series of shots, Joel Saplan drove closer to the basket for a layup.
Not having much luck in the second half, Esdrelon turned the ball over to Estolas, who scored 10 more points.
Grocers’ leading scorer Eugene Mangali couldn’t pull through at the end, leaving the baskets to Javier and Jeff Pagarao.
Estolas tallied the highest score in the game with 23 points.
