Bo Hu Li was arrested based on an order issued by then-Chief Judge Alex R. Munson of the U.S. District Court for the NMI on Feb. 25, 2010.
The grand jury charged Li with reckless violation of the Federal Aviation Act, and willful violation of the Hazardous Material Law after he transported Lannate (methomyl).
The indictment described Lannate as a pesticide “that was improperly labeled, packaged, and conditioned for shipping.”
Li denied the charges during his initial appearance in court on Friday before visiting Judge Roger Benitez of the Southern District of California.
Represented by his court-appointed defense attorney David Banes, Li was released after he and his third-party custodians issued $25,000 in unsecured bond.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Schuler is the prosecutor.
The jury trial for Li begins on Nov. 24, 2010.
