Ada said parents are the first teachers of their students, and “the information they provide to us about their children is valuable because they know more about our students.”
Open house night was held on Sept. 28. It aimed to increase parent involvement through outreach and education about the school’s expectations and goals as a learning community.
“If we nurture the home-school connection, student achievement will increase. Their contribution to student learning is critical,” Ada said, referring to parents.
Leila Staffler, the new vice principal for curriculum and instruction, gave out door prizes donated by the Pacific Islands Club, the Saipan World Resort, National Office Supply and Modern Office Supply.
During the open house night, teachers introduced the school standards and benchmarks to parents.
There was also a demonstration on how technology is used in the classroom.
Teachers, moreover, provided their contact numbers to parents and reiterated their commitment to student learning.
