The exercise which will start from 9:00 to 10:00 in the morning, aiming to measure the readiness of the concerned agencies in the event of an aircraft crash.
National Emergency Management Office (NEMO) coordinator Alonzo Kyota said during the exercise, emergency responders will be responding to a simulated airport incident. The public is requested to cooperate with first responders by yielding the right of way to emergency vehicles as well as for the public not to follow emergency vehicles.
He added that due to the nature of the exercise, the siren on top of the BRT Building will emit a Fast Wall between 9:00 to 10:00 in the morning.
Prior to the full scale exercise, a whole-day Table Top conference was held at the MCS in Malakal yesterday.
The BOA, NEMO, Division of Fire and Rescue, Ministry of Health, Bureau of Public Works, Red Cross, and Representatives from Airlines, Palau National Communications Corporation, Airport tenants, Environmental Quality Protection Board and other government agencies, were met to discuss all the important matters to be done during the exercise.
This National Emergency Committee had earlier held a meeting last month facilitated by Bureau of Aviation Director Charles I. Obichang.
The meeting was held to become familiarize with the fire equipments of Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) and the Division of Fire and Rescue, what ARFF’s equipments available to use for fire rescue as well as on how to join their forces during the emergency response, especially at the airport.
During the meeting the committee also discussed the holding of full scale exercise which is slated today.
