Flores: Legislature should provide mayor’s office with sufficient funding

He said despite the lack of manpower they have maximized their resources to serve better the community.

“I am confident that the Senate’s final decision on the budget bill will provide the mayor’s office with the necessary funding for manpower to continue its quest, which is to improve the community’s  livelihood,” he said.

The office of Rep. Rafael S. Demapan, Covenant-Saipan,  requested the mayor recently to repair roads and trim overgrown weeds in Chalan Kanoa and Susupe, Flores said.

His office, he added, will continue its road repair efforts as well as the beautification and cleanup campaign in the villages, which includes removing junk cars and debris.

Last week, he said his personnel conducted a cleanup drive in the Susupe Lake area.

He said they also removed 15 junk cars from Chalan Kanoa and Susupe.

His office, he added, is coordinating with two recycling companies, Basula Produkto and Triple Star, in removing junk cars from public areas.

According to Flores, his office has removed 100 junk cars so far and a lot more are scheduled for removal.

“We need manpower to do  an islandwide operation,” he said.

The Department of Public Safety, he added, allowed them to use a fire truck, which his office repaired recently.

The truck can hold 1,000 gallons of water and will be used by the mayor’s office to provide water to residents without a 24-hour supply.
