Club Jama settles former employees’ lawsuit

Judge Philip M. Pro of the District of Nevada directed all parties to file a stipulation for dismissal on Nov. 1.

Last year, the plaintiffs, who are former dancers of the now defunct night club,  sued Chanpac Inc., which did business as Club Jama, Ernest J. Strange, Thelma Strange, and 10 Does, for breach of contract, and for violating the Fair Labor Standards Act by failing to pay overtime compensation.

The plaintiffs were represented by attorneys Colin Thompson and Robert Torres, while Anthony Long was counsel for the defendants.

Thompson declined to comment while Long could not be reached as of press time last night.

Judge Pro granted in part and denied in part the defendants’ motion for summary judgment during a telephonic hearing on Monday.

The court was later notified of the resolution of the case after a settlement conference.
