Gloria Cavanagh
GLORIA Cavanagh will leave her post as chairwoman of the Marianas Visitors Authority board at the end of this month.
“I will be stepping down at the end of this month. I and the other elected [board] members will be swearing in new [MVA] members,” she told Variety on Monday.
Earlier, Cavanagh announced her resignation from MB Capital Corporation as its general manager. MB Capital took over the operation of the former Hyatt Regency in 2024 and has signed a franchise agreement with Marriot.
In a letter to friends and colleagues, Cavanagh said, “June 13th marks the end of my journey with MB Capital Corporation.”
“I am deeply grateful for the 14.5 years we’ve shared, navigating the highs and lows of our beloved CNMI,” she added. “It’s been an honor to be part of this vibrant community. As I’ve always believed, ‘You can’t choose where you were born, but you can choose where you call home.’ I’ve chosen here, and I’ll always cherish our time together.”
“My husband and I are embarking on an exciting new chapter. We’ll be starting in Guam, where we’ll have the joy of spending time with my parents, before we head to the sunny shores of Florida in April,” Cavanagh said.
“As I bid you farewell, I wish you and the entire Commonwealth a future filled with prosperity, joy and success. Stay Marianas Strong!”
The 2020 Business Person of the Year of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, Cavanagh has extensive experience in tourism and hospitality.
She served as vice president of Marianas Eland, general manager of the Pacific Islands Club Saipan, Mariana Resort & Spa, and Guam International Country Club.
She is also the former chair of the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands and treasurer of the Northern Marianas Business Alliance Corporation, which reached out to federal officials regarding local workforce issues.
