prohibitions of the following species: Adult and Juvenile Napoleon Wrasse (Maml and Ngimr), Adult and Juvenile Humphead Parrotfish (Kemedukl and Berdebed), Rabbitfish (Meyas) and Lobsters (Cheraprukl).
As such, the Division of Fish and Wildlife Protection would like to remind the public that according to Title 27 of the Palau National Code, Section 1204 subsections (b) and (c) it is unlawful for any person to fish for, sell, buy, receive, possess, export or cause to be exported any of the following species, regardless of where such species may have originated: Juvenile Humphead Parrotfish (Berdebed), Juvenile Napoleon Wrasse (Ngimr), Adult Humphead Parrotfish (Kemedukl) Adult Napoleon Wrasse (Maml).
Furthermore, the public is reminded that according to 27 PNC§1204 (d) it is illegal to fish for, possess, sell, receive, buy, export or cause to be exported rabbitfish (Meyas) from February 1 to March 31, inclusive: additionally, 27 PNC §1204 (e) states that it is prohibited to fish for, possess, sell, buy, receive, export or cause to be exported the following species of rock lobsters (cheraprukl), raiklius, bleyached or melech smaller than three and half (3 ½) inches in total length of the carapace as measured from the tip of the rostrum midway between the eyes to the end of the carapace, or a berried female of any size whatsoever.
Violators of the aforementioned laws shall upon conviction be penalized as follows: upon the first conviction, be fined not less than two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00); upon the second conviction, be fined not less than five hundred ($500.00) and sentenced to serve up to thirty (30) days in jail; upon the third conviction, be fined not less than one thousand ($1,000.00) and sentenced to serve up to six (6) months in jail; any conviction after a third conviction be fined not less than five thousand ($5,000.00) and sentenced to serve up one year in jail.
Therefore the public is reminded and requested to observe the above mentioned laws.
