Search for Bell continues

But Emergency Management Office spokesman Juan T. Camacho said they will resume the search today.

Bell, 72, attempted to swim around Tinian on Saturday.

EMO said boats from the Department of Public Safety on Tinian and Saipan, the Commonwealth Ports Authority, a Navy helicopter as well as private jetskis and boats were involved in the search for Bell.

Bell walked into DPS-Tinian at about 12 noon on Saturday and informed the front desk that he would swim from Southwest Carolinas Point to Kammer Beach.

Bell expected to arrive at Kammer Beach between 4 and 5 p.m., Saturday.

At 8 p.m., Tinian DPS was informed by attorney Janet King that Bell had yet to call her.

In Oct. 2008, Bell was rescued while attempting to swim to Tinian from Saipan.

Local and federal agencies were mobilized for the search which cost taxpayers $25,000.
