Organized by the United Workers Movement, NMI and the Pilipino Contract Workers Association, the forum will be held at the auditorium of American Memorial Park, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.Attorney Joseph E. Horey of the O’Connor Berman Dotts & Banes law firm, former Senate legal counsel Steve Woodruff and CNMI Bar Association president Maya Kara are among the guest speakers.

UWM president Raby Syed and Pilcowa president Jun Concillado said attorney Deanne Siemer of the Department of Labor and human rights advocate Wendy  Doromal have also confirmed their participation through  tele-conference.

Local attorneys Mark Hanson and Jane Mack as well as Rep. Tina Sablan have likewise confirmed their participation.

“We are inviting guest workers to attend. They can also share their insights during the forum,” Concillado said.

The forum, Syed said, aims to enlighten not only the guest workers but also the other members of the community and employers about the umbrella permit which, he added, has “created a lot of confusion” among guest workers.

“We want to have a clear picture about this umbrella permit and we hope to provide the right information through this forum,” Syed said.

Getting the right information will help guest workers decide whether to sign the umbrella permit or not, he added.
