Man threatens to ‘stab someone’ at Corrections

In her supplemental declaration in support of petition filed in federal court, Brunson said Celis called her from Corrections on Oct. 9 and “demanded” his transfer to a federal prison.

Brunson responded by asking Celis when was the last time he smoked “ice.”

“[He] responded by saying he uses everything — ice, heroin, everything,” Brunson quoted Celis as saying.

Brunson asked Celis about the marijuana found in his underwear after his arrest on Oct. 7.

Celes, she said, replied: “So?” and laughed.

“The defendant further stated that if he is not sent to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, he will ‘stab someone,’ ” Brunson said, adding that she immediately provided the information to Supervising Deputy U.S. Marshal Don Hall.

Brunson said Celis had admitted using drugs on July 12, July 21, Sept. 23, and Sept. 25 this year.

On Sept. 30, Brunson said Celis submitted to urinalysis, “which was presumptive positive for the presence of methamphetamine, amphetamine, and marijuana.”

Celis had previously admitted to smoking marijuana and at least three grams of “ice” the week before Sept. 30, Brunson stated.

Celis claimed that his last instance of drug use was on Sept. 25, Brunson said, adding that the defendant denied smoking “ice” after Sept. 25.

On Oct. 8, the laboratory analysis of Celis’s urine sample confirmed that he was positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine, and marijuana, Brunson stated.

Celis was identified by the police as a suspect in a snatching incident near a hotel in Sadog Tasi on Oct. 1, which is a violation of his supervised release.

The victim and a witness identified Celis as the one running into the residence of Frankie “Kojak” Mafnas, police said.

During the investigation by Deputy U.S. Marshal Wolfgang Calvert, Celis was confirmed to be living at Mafnas’s house after the defendant’s prison card was found in one of the bedrooms.

Celis was not authorized to reside at Mafnas’s home, Brunson said.

On Oct. 8, Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo ordered Celis’s arrest in connection with the Sadog Tasi snatching incident, but the defendant was already taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Celis, who was earlier charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, was released on Sept. 9 to a third-party custodian.
