Also in attendance were the division chiefs and other key staff from all the government department and agencies whose line of duties are related to the management of government funds.
Frank Crawford of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Graduate School explained the situation as to where Yap stands among other areas in terms of management of Compact funds and how these should be spent.
Crawford pointed out that Yap has maintained its reputation to remain on top of the other governments.
However, due to current financial instabilities and as expected, there is a slight downturn on the scale for Yap’s overall financial standing.
Crawford cautioned against this trend and advised the state to keep fiscal management stringent on funds it has control over.
He said the key lies with fund appropriation process to ensure a balanced budget that stays within revenue means and not continue to dip into reserve funds for the state.
Crawford was scheduled to have another presentation with the state legislature.
