CUC experienced operational challenges at the Saipan power plant caused by moisture from heavy rainfall, which are affected the ability to bring additional engines online and increase available capacity. Crews are actively working to address these issues by isolating areas with known damages in the electrical distribution system to protect our generators and minimize system outages.
CUC reminds customers that due to the impacts of Super Typhoon Sinlaku and Super Typhoon Bavi, the power system remains in the restoration phase. There may be weak points in the system that can fail as additional areas are energized. Crews are working to identify these weak points and are isolated to make necessary repairs.
CUC appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as our team works to restore services to our customers.
