Handicapped people flock to the KB Bridge to watch sports activities

The crowd started to gather at the KB Bridge as early as 7 am to watch the swimming competition, canoe race and boat race.

The disabled persons were transported to the KB Bridge by two vans provided by Senators Mlib Metuchl, Alfonso Diaz and Regis Akitaya.

The Senators provided them food while they were at the KB Bridge enjoying the activities and afterwards transported them back home.

It was Senator Metuchl who first gave the disabled persons a chance to join the other Palauans in celebrating the Independence Day.

Senator Metuchl has been doing this program for nine years now. Every year, ten to 15 handicapped were provided transportation and food.

Senators Diaz and Akitaya later joined the program. The three lawmakers provided chairs and tents for the convenience of the disabled persons.

The venue was also filled with booths for displays, exhibits and sales.

Police were visible in the area manning the traffic and the crowd.
