Senior Judge Honora Remengesau-Rudimch dismissed the DUI charge filed against Ronald Ledgerwood after the counsel for government Carlos Salii moved for the dismissal of the charge.
Salii during a hearing on September 17 informed the court that he reviewed the file and spoke to witnesses both for the government and the defendant and concluded that there was no sufficient evidence to support the DUI charge.
Ledgerwood appeared for a plea hearing on September 17 with counsel Rachel Dimitruk and pleaded guilty to one count of reckless driving charge.
The government in exchange of his guilty plea, agreed to dismiss the other charge, the DUI.
Senior Judge Rudimch accepted Ledgerwood’s plea and ordered him to pay a fine of $100.
Ledgerwood was charged with DUI and reckless driving after the vehicle he was operating engaged in accident at 2 pm on August 29, 2008.
Ledgerwood’s vehicle collided into a wooden electric pole beside the basketball court in Ngerbodel, Ngerchemai.
The information filed in court by the original prosecutor Special Prosecutor Michael Copeland stated that Ledgerwood was under the influence of alcohol when he operated his vehicle.
Copeland was removed from prosecuting the case and was replaced by Salii.
