Man in assault and battery case pleads not guilty

Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert Naraja set the status conference hearing for Nov. 23.

Sablan, 29, is represented by attorney Ramon Quichocho while Assistant Attorney General George Hasselback is the government prosecutor.

In the information he filed with the court, Hasselback stated that Sablan “did unlawfully strike, beat, wound, or otherwise do bodily harm” to Department of Public Safety Officer John Cabrera who tried to place him under arrest on Jan. 19, 2009.

Sablan also became physically combative with the police officers who attempted to arrest him, Hasselback said.

Sablan prevented police officers from interviewing a suspected victim of domestic violence “despite repeated orders not to interfere,” the prosecution added.
