Macaraig made the statement during the induction of officers and board of directors of the Pilipino Contract Workers Association on Saturday.
Ronnie Doca, Pilcowa board chairman, said their group and the United Workers Movement are helping guest workers submit their comments.
One of the workers’ requests is to allow those with valid CNMI entry permits to get the federal CW-1 permit without extra cost, Doca said.
He said their group is planning to gather more comments by visiting the housing barracks of the workers.
Newly elected Pilcowa president Jun Concillado said they will continue to get involved in activities that benefit all guest workers.
“We will also encourage all contract workers to be more self-reliant and to be always ready in preparation for the present economic situation and the upcoming federalization in the CNMI,” he said.
The induction ceremony was attended by Rep. Tina Sablan, United Workers Movement president Rabby Syed, Philippine Welfare Office Rey D. Tayag, and Consul Belinda Ante.
Macaraig said he was grateful for the involvement of Pilcowa in different community undertakings and projects, which included the relief campaign for the typhoon victims in the Philippines.
Pilcowa has also been involved in island cleanup drives and has organized a basketball league.
The other inducted officers were vice president (internal) Evelyn del Mundo; vice president (external), Ferdie Martin; vice president (for special projects) Mario Mayuga; secretary Jenny Santiago; assistant secretary Darisleen Tesero; treasurer Marissa Mejia; assistant treasurer Nieves Quiteves; auditor Cresencia Director; business manager Rhodora Tesero; press relation officers Arceli dela Cruz and Annie Perez; and marshals Ariel Demano and Ramir Calimag.
