“They will remain suspended until the criminal cases have been resolved,” Tudela told the Variety yesterday.
“If they will be found guilty, they will see their exit with DPS,” the commissioner added.
Tudela said the firearms issued to the suspended officers have been returned to DPS.
Internal Affairs is also investigating the two officers — Detective Christopher Leon Guerrero and Sgt. Joseph Agulto.
Leon Guerrero was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on the charge he demanded and received money from arrested illegal taxi drivers.
The U.S. District Court for the NMI has released the detective to the custody of his wife.
The CNMI Superior Court, for its part, has set $10,000 cash bail for Agulto who has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend last Friday.
The Superior Court remanded Agulto to the custody of the Department of Corrections when he failed to post bail after Tuesday’s hearing.
