Presiding Judge Robert Naraja also directed Balisi, 30, to stay away for at least 250 yards from his wife’s residence.
Balisi was ordered to remain on Rota and to post $9,000 in unsecured bond.
He will return to the Rota courtroom for his arraignment on Dec. 4.
Balisi is facing charges of assault with dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
According to Sgt. Jonathan Garces of the Department of Public Safety Rota’s Domestic Violence Unit, Balisi came home drunk at about 9 p.m. on Nov. 5 and assaulted his wife.
Police said after breaking their cellphone, Balisi punched his wife on her thighs two times, and once on her right eye.
Balisi then took a machete and pointed it at his victim, threatening to kill her.
He then pulled her hair before leaving, police said.
The victim was treated at the Rota Health Center for black eye, bruised left shoulder, and lacerated lip.
