DCCA aims for upset game vs Hyatt

Hyatt Regency Saipan as IT&E Inter-government &Business Basketball League’s playoff starts today.

Power forward, Ponce Rasa Jr., said he and his team mates already know what it takes to beat Hyatt whose players, they observed have shown remarkable feats during the regular season.

From the very beginning Rasa said Hyatt is a team they can not be so confident about.

“Aside from their starters or the first five guys, Hyatt has a bench dept that is remarkable. They don’t run out of good players in the court and in the bench,” he said.

The DCCA cagers most of whom are obviously in their middle ages, had a slow start during the game against Bank of Guam last Friday. But halfway to the ball game, DCCA pushed it hard and turn it into neck-and-neck before finally winning the eighth slot, with an 85-81 victory.

Just like what happened last Friday, Rasa believes, it takes a considerable amount of basketball IQs to defeat the pennant champions. Considering that they are short-handed, with eight to nine players guaranteed to show up, Rasa said Hyatt may out run them but they must not allow the hoteliers to outwit them.

After winning the pennant by defeating NTT Docomo two weeks ago, playing coach Ray Lizama said they can assure to keep a big lead in their next game, if Syl Teregeyo and Kelvin Fitial would keep the way they played against Docomo. He said setting an insurmountable lead in the beginning will assure their win not matter how clever their opponents will be.
