The nominees were showered with gift baskets, certificates and mwars.
Fourth-sixth graders performed special dance for the nominees. It was the day when the school community gathered to recognize the teachers and staff’s hard work and dedication to the students of SAES.
Because of so many have added responsibilities, they have sacrificed so many things in their lives just to assure quality education for today’s generation.
“Even though we don’t have Education Day with the rest of the Public School System family the students enjoyed performing for the three nominees,” said kindergarten teacher Rita Carreon.
She added, “It’s something new this year and it turned out great. I would like to give lots of thanks to our private companies who were very generous to donate for our nominees: McDonald’s, Pacific Islands Club, Hyatt Regency, Younis Art Studio/Marianas Variety, Triple J Auto, Hertz Rent a Car, Roshi’s Variety, National Office Supply, Fiesta Resort, Aqua Resort and World Resort.”
MCS Theater Club
(MCS) — Mount Carmel School’s Theatre Club will present a musical adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Winter’s Tale” featuring musical performances from the award-winning Saipan Southern High School Manta Band and The Wise Men on Friday, Dec. 4, dinner show, 6 p.m. dinner, 7 p.m. performance, with each ticket costing $35.
The regular show is on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Hibiscus Hall of the Fiesta Resort & Spa. A ticket will cost $5.

Continental wins awards
CONTINENTAL Airlines has won top honors in two categories in the 2009 OAG Airline Industry Awards, its media release said.
BusinessFirst, Continental’s international business-class service, was named “Best Executive/Business Class.”
The airline previously won this award five years in a row between 2003 and 2007. Continental also won “Best Airline Based in North America” for the sixth consecutive year.
Summer institute
HONOLULU (East-West Center) — Applications are being accepted through Jan. 1 for the third annual Summer Institute in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.
The workshop, scheduled for May 10-22, 2010, is designed for professionals working across a broad range of fields related to IHL and human rights, including lawyers, academics, journalists, non-governmental organization workers, investigators, monitors, government agency workers and graduate-level law students.

Special marine advisory
(EMO) — Based on the information received from National Weather Service on Guam, swells generated by Tropical Depression 26w will produce hazardous surf conditions and a high risk of rip currents through Friday morning.
A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect exposed reefs and beaches in the advisory area producing dangerous rip currents.
Expect hazardous surf of nine to 12 feet along east and northeast exposures through Friday morning.
Surf heights will peak Thursday morning as Tropical Depression 26w passes southwest of Guam.
Gov. Benigno R. Fitial is strongly advising the general public to avoid venturing near exposed reefs and beaches, especially along east and north facing reefs as rip currents are life-threatening.
