School principal Katrina Lizama said despite their current hardships, students and parents continue to show their generosity
“The turnout was very good and parents have been so helpful,” she added.
Their school continues to be one of the top donors in the annual canned food drive.
Karidat Director Angie V. Deleon Guerrero received the goods and thanked the students and parents.
This year’s theme “Make Thanksgiving about sharing, caring and helping,” was the winning entry of Isaiah Dela Cruz, a third grader student, in the theme writing contest.
Grade 1-A teacher Vilma Travilla, co-chair of the Thanksgiving program, said the school also conducted an essay writing contest based on this year’s theme.
Theresa Barro was this year’s overall program coordinator.
Mary Jane Pepito got first place in the essay contest; the second place went to Cornessa Dela Cruz while Donnalyn Manalo placed third, Travilla said.
“During Thanksgiving you may share in many ways. In caring you may care by love, in helping you may help people who are in need, and in sharing you may share by giving people who are unfortunate what they need to buy what they don’t have,” Pepito wrote in her essay.
Travilla said her class collected 149 canned goods and won the first prize for the most number of canned goods collected.
The kindergarten morning and afternoon classes got second place with 106 canned goods, while the class of Frank Demapan was the third placer with 80 canned goods.
The second grade class with 72 finished fourth.
Travilla said they also collected used toys and clothes which will ne donated in December.
The classes from kindergarten to third grades won first place in the door decorating contest while the classes of fourth to sixth grades finished second.
Travilla said all winners for the canned food drive were given fruits and cookies while the winners for the theme writing and essay writing contests received fruits and vegetables.
During yesterday’s program, all grade levels presented special numbers and each class held a party in their respective classrooms, Travilla said.
The program’s master and mistress of ceremony were Dino Taitano and Daisy Brier.
Kit Indalecio, PTA president, made the opening remarks.
Lizama thanked all the sponsors for supporting their program; Letty Santos, John and Sia Dela Cruz, Albert and Midori Ichihara, Joselito Santos, Luis and Kit Indalecio, Augustus Loste, Rep. Ralph DLG. Torres, Chris and Deveyanne Cepeda, Wendell and Heide Posadas, the SAES Student Council and the Octopus Family.
