The San Antonio nominees will compete this month with their counterparts from other schools for the Teacher of the Year, Support Staff of the Year, and Teacher Aide of the Year awards.
This year’s San Antonio nominees are teacher Catherine A. Cabrera, support staffer Manny Quitaneg and teacher aide Ronald Olopai.
Event coordinator Rita Carreon said San Antonio will start its Education Day celebration on Monday, Nov. 16, with the third grade class treating the three nominees to breakfast.
The second graders will bring fruits and flowers for the nominees on Tuesday while the first grade class will send “Thank You” notes on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the kindergarten class will treat the nominees to dessert.
The culmination of the Education Day celebration will be on Friday and the nominees will be presented to the school and the Parent-Teacher Association.
Other grade levels not able to give presents to the nominees will perform songs and dances.
Carreon said it is important to give recognition to the education awardees for their contributions to student learning.
